Join us for a reading with one of Ireland’s most celebrated writers, Kevin Barry.

Kevin is the author of four novels—including Night Boat to Tangier which was longlisted for the Booker Prize and named by The New York Times as one of the top 10 books of the year—and three short story collections. Literary awards include the Impac Dublin Literary Award, The Goldsmith Prize, The Rooney Prize for Irish Literature, The EU Literature Prize and the Sunday Times Short Story Prize. His latest, The Heart in Winter, was described in The Guardian as “a wedding of Cormac McCarthy with Flann O’Brien; a western but also the most Irish of novels; a tragedy written as farce”.

Storytime at the Library: Children are invited to join author Anne Printer for a reading and some storytelling at Westport Library. Ollen the Oak Tree is Anne’s first book in her series of stories about native Irish trees with the second, Higgle the Holly Tree, due out next month.

Anne, who lives in Westport, has many years of experience teaching young children through stories and games and believes in the power of storytelling to enable children to enjoy learning.

Neuroscientist, health psychologist and author, Sabina Brennan, talks to Barbara Scully, about her latest book, Still Me – A neuroscientist’s guide to caring for someone with dementia. Dr Brennan directed a dementia research programme at Trinity College Dublin for several years, and is a passionate advocate for people with neurological conditions and their carers.

Fascinated by the human brain, Dr Brennan is on a mission to help people understand how their brain works so they can better understand themselves and reach their true potential. Her previous books, 100 Days to a Younger Brain, Beating Brain Fog and The Neuroscience of Manifesting, were all Irish Times best-sellers.
