Kevin Barry

Kevin Barry is the author of four novels, most recently The Heart in Winter, and three short story collections, most recently, That Old Country Music. His literary awards include The Impac Dublin Literary Award, The Goldsmiths Prize, The Rooney Prize for Irish Literature, The EU Literature Prize, The Sunday Times Short Story Prize, The Edge Hill Prize, the Lannan Foundation Literary Award. His novel Night Boat to Tangier was longlisted for the Booker Prize and named a New York Times Top Ten Book of the year. He also works as a screenwriter and a playwright. His most recent play credit is The Cave which played at the Abbey Theatre and Galway International Arts Festival (summer 2025.). His stories and essays have appeared in the New Yorker, Granta and elsewhere. His work has been translated into more than thirty languages. He co-edits Winter Papers, an annual anthology for the arts. He is a member of Aosdána. Originally from Limerick city, he lives in Co. Sligo.
