Bairbre Power

Bairbre Power is a respected Irish journalist, magazine editor and style correspondent who spent nearly 40 years as a staff journalist at the Irish Independent. She spent 20 years of that as fashion editor, during which time she interviewed many of the leading Irish and international designers and covered Fashion Weeks in London, Paris, Milan and New York, most recently covering JW Anderson's ready-to-wear womenswear debut for Dior in Paris last October. A past pupil of the Grafton Academy of Design, Bairbre was a contributing fashion stylist on RTE's The Afternoon Show for five years and styled fashion shoots for Weekend magazine, always prioritising up and coming and established Irish designers.
She has edited specialised, digital publications including Lineout rugby magazine and Mistletoe Christmas magazine. She moved into freelance writing in 2024, undertook a diploma at Trinity College in the history of European painting and is a regular contributor to the Business Post and to the RTE Arts programme, Arena.
